About Brickell Area Reef

Brickell Area Reef is an artificial reef off the Brickell waterfront in Miami, within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. The structure holds Gray Snapper and Common Snook, both peaking from May through July, while Tarpon move through in greatest numbers from March to May. Sheepshead and Crevalle Jack also work the reef, rounding out a mixed inshore lineup around the hard bottom. Bottom fishing with cut bait, live shrimp, live pilchards, or squid targets snapper tight to the structure, and chumming with glass minnows pulls them up into a freelined bait. Live bait drifting with live pilchards, live mullet, or live shrimp across the reef produces both snook and tarpon, and bucktail jigs and soft plastic swimbaits serve as the artificial alternative.
