About Brickell Point
Brickell Point is a rocky drop-off on the Miami shoreline, where hard bottom falls away into deeper water within Florida's Southeast Region state waters. Tarpon move through in March through May, and Common Snook and Gray Snapper peak from May through July, with Sheepshead and Crevalle Jack rounding out the lineup. Snook and tarpon respond to live bait drifting with live pilchards, live shrimp, or live mullet worked along the edge of the drop. Gray Snapper hold tight to the rock, where bottom fishing with cut bait, squid, or live shrimp puts baits directly in their strike zone. Anglers chasing tarpon on the rising spring run also cast soft plastic swimbaits and bucktail jigs, or present shrimp flies and crab flies on the fly rod.
