About Captain Harry (formerly Lady Philomise) Reef
Captain Harry (formerly Lady Philomise) Reef is an artificial reef off Miami in the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters, where placed structure holds a mix of reef and pelagic species. Spring and early summer form the main snapper window, with Mutton Snapper peaking April through June and Gray Snapper and Yellowtail Snapper peaking May through July, alongside Common Snook over the same May–July stretch. Bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid works the structure for Mutton and Gray Snapper, while chumming with frozen chum blocks and glass minnows draws Yellowtail Snapper up off the reef. Common Snook respond to live bait drifting with live pilchards, live shrimp, or live mullet worked along the edges of the structure. King Mackerel take over from November through March, when slow trolling live blue runners or live goggle eyes near the reef targets them, and Crevalle Jack also roam the site.
