About Concrete Pipe Reef
Concrete Pipe Reef is an artificial reef off Miami, Florida, within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Its concrete pipe structure holds a mixed snapper population, with Yellowtail Snapper and Gray Snapper peaking from May through July and Mutton Snapper peaking from April through June. Yellowtail respond to chumming with frozen chum blocks and glass minnows, while bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, and squid works the pipes for Gray and Mutton Snapper. King Mackerel move through from November through March, when slow trolling live goggle eyes, blue runners, or pilchards near the reef draws strikes. Crevalle Jack also patrol the structure, and Common Snook peak from May through July, taking live pilchards and live shrimp on a drift.
