About Dock & Marine Reef

Dock & Marine Reef is an artificial reef off Miami, Florida, within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. The structure holds a mix of snapper and pelagic species, with Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook all peaking from May through July and Mutton Snapper running strongest from April through June. King Mackerel take over in the cooler months, peaking from November through March, while Crevalle Jack also patrol the reef. Chumming with frozen chum blocks and glass minnows draws Yellowtail Snapper up off the structure, and bottom fishing with live pilchards, live ballyhoo, or cut bait targets Gray and Mutton Snapper holding tight to the reef. For King Mackerel, slow trolling live blue runners or live goggle eyes along the reef edges is the dominant approach.
