About Fishermans Channel

Fishermans Channel is a protected inner corridor in Miami, Florida, with a sand bottom running 5 to 10 feet deep. Common Snook, Gray Snapper, and Yellowtail Snapper peak from May through July, Mutton Snapper peaks from April through June, and Crevalle Jack works the channel as well. For snook, live bait drifting with live pilchards, live shrimp, or live mullet follows the corridor's shallow sand edges, while bucktail jigs and soft plastic swimbaits cover the same water. Gray Snapper respond to bottom fishing with cut bait, live shrimp, or squid, and chumming with glass minnows or frozen chum blocks draws Yellowtail Snapper up from the sand. King Mackerel shift the focus to the cooler months, peaking from November through March, when slow trolling live blue runners or live pilchards is the primary approach.
