About I Beams Reef
I Beams Reef is an artificial reef off Miami, Florida, set in the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Its structure draws Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook that peak from May through July, while Mutton Snapper peak from April through June. Yellowtail Snapper respond to chumming with frozen chum blocks and glass minnows, and Gray Snapper and Mutton Snapper hold tight to the reef for bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, and squid. Crevalle Jack also roam the structure, and Common Snook take live bait drifting with live pilchards, live shrimp, and live mullet. From November through March, King Mackerel take over the winter fishery, and anglers target them by slow trolling live goggle eyes, live blue runners, and live ballyhoo.
