About Pelican Harbor Reef

Pelican Harbor Reef is an artificial reef off Miami, Florida, within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. The structure holds Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook through a shared peak from May to July, with Mutton Snapper peaking slightly earlier from April to June. Snapper anglers work the reef with chumming and bottom fishing, using frozen chum blocks and glass minnows to raise yellowtail and live shrimp or cut bait to hold gray and mutton snapper tight to the structure. Snook respond to live bait drifting with live pilchards or live mullet, and bucktail jigs worked along the reef edges draw strikes as well. In the cooler months from November to March, King Mackerel move through and fall to slow trolling with live blue runners or live goggle eyes, while Crevalle Jack round out the mix around the reef.
