About Bishop Point
Bishop Point is an outer-exposed drop-off in the Tampa Bay Region of Florida's Gulf state waters off Sarasota, where mixed bottom falls away across a depth range of 260 to 660 feet. Common Snook peak here from May through July, Gray Snapper from June through August, and Red Drum in September and October, while Sheepshead also hold along the structure. Spanish Mackerel move through in two windows, March through May and September through November. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, cut sardines, or squid along the edge of the drop-off targets Gray Snapper, and chumming with frozen chum blocks draws them up off the mixed bottom. Snook respond to live bait fishing with live pinfish or live threadfin herring, and casting small spoons and jigs works for passing Spanish Mackerel.
