About Blackburn Point
Blackburn Point is a drop-off fishing spot in the Sarasota Bay region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where the bottom falls away and gathers baitfish and predators along its edge. Common Snook peak from May through July and respond best to live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp worked along the break. Gray Snapper peak from June through August and hold tight to the structure for anglers bottom fishing with live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid. Red Drum peak in September and October, and Spanish Mackerel run in two windows, March through May and September through November, when casting small spoons and jigs draws strikes from fast-moving schools. Sheepshead also hold along the drop-off, giving the spot a mixed inshore lineup across the calendar.
