About Blind Pass
Blind Pass is an exposed tidal corridor near Sarasota, Florida, where water moves over a sand bottom 5 to 10 feet deep along the Gulf edge of the Sarasota Bay region. Common Snook peak from May through July and hold along the current seams, where live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp is the dominant approach and paddletail swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits cover the edges. Gray Snapper peak from June through August and respond to bottom fishing with live shrimp or cut sardines, while Sheepshead also work the pass. Red Drum peak in September and October, and sight casting with gold spoons or live pilchards across the shallow sand reaches them in clear water. Spanish Mackerel run through in two windows, March through May and September through November, and casting small spoons and jigs into the moving water intercepts passing schools.
