About Point Pleasant
Point Pleasant is an outer, exposed rocky drop-off in the Tampa Bay Region of Florida's Gulf state waters off Sarasota, with bottom depths running from 260 to 660 feet. Common Snook peak from May through July, Gray Snapper from June through August, and Red Drum in September and October, while Spanish Mackerel show in two windows, March through May and September through November. Sheepshead round out the species list on the rock. Along the ledge, bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, cut sardines or squid targets Gray Snapper, and chumming with frozen chum blocks or cut sardines draws them up off the structure. Spanish Mackerel respond to casting small spoons, jigs and plugs, and trolling small spoons and trolling jigs covers more of the exposed water.
