About Quick Point

Quick Point is a shallow sand-bottom corridor in the Sarasota Bay region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where depths run from the surface to about 10 feet. Common Snook peak here from May through July, Gray Snapper from June through August, and Red Drum in September and October, with Sheepshead also among the regular targets. Spanish Mackerel move through in two windows, March through May and again September through November, and anglers reach them by casting small spoons, jigs, and plugs along the corridor. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp is the dominant approach for snook in this skinny water, and paddletail swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits cover the sand edges when anglers prefer artificials. Red Drum respond to sight casting with gold spoons and soft plastic jerkbaits over the open sand, while Gray Snapper take live shrimp and cut sardines fished on the bottom.
