About Stickney Point
Stickney Point is a sand-bottom drop-off in the Sarasota Bay region off Sarasota, Florida, where an exposed edge draws a mix of inshore and nearshore species. Common Snook peak from May through July, Gray Snapper from June through August, and Red Drum in September and October, while Sheepshead hold along the drop-off structure. Spanish Mackerel run in two windows, March through May and again September through November. Snook anglers work the edge with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp. Gray Snapper respond to bottom fishing with live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid tight to the sand break.
