About Terra Ceia Point

Terra Ceia Point is an exposed drop-off with mixed bottom in the Tampa Bay region of Florida's Gulf state waters near Sarasota. The edge holds Sheepshead and Gray Snapper, which peak from June through August, while Spotted Seatrout run strongest in March, April, and October and Red Drum peak in September and October. Common Snook move through from May to July, and Spanish Mackerel show in two windows, March through May and September through November. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, or cut sardines works the transition from shallow to deep water for Gray Snapper, and chumming with frozen chum blocks draws fish up off the structure. Along the exposed edge, casting small spoons and jigs targets Spanish Mackerel, and live pilchards or live pinfish fished near the drop tempt Common Snook.
