Bakers Reef is a mid-exposure sand flat off Anacortes, Washington, sitting in DFO subarea 7 with depths running 15 to 40 feet. The flat draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon across a longer window from June into October, while Pacific Halibut move through from March to July. Trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, and trolling spoons covers water for both salmon runs across the open flat, and mooching whole herring works the same shallow ground. Pacific Halibut respond to drift fishing with herring, squid, or octopus over the sand, and jigging metal jigs or leadhead jigs takes Lingcod during their February–March peak and Black Rockfish from May through August. The sandy bottom and moderate 15-to-40-foot depths keep the fishing accessible throughout the season.
