Spindle Rock is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Anacortes, Washington, in DFO subarea 7, where the bottom rises through depths of 15 to 60 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from June into October, with anglers working the surrounding water by trolling flashers, trolling spoons, and cut-plug herring, or switching to mooching whole herring when fish hold deeper. The rock itself is prime Lingcod ground, strongest in February and March, and jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the pinnacle reaches fish tucked into the structure. Pacific Cod, Flatfish, and Pacific Herring share the same bottom, while Dungeness Crab move through from July into September and take well to baited crab pots set on the adjacent seabed. The exposed position and hard structure concentrate bait and predators alike, making the depth transitions off the pinnacle the key water to fish.
