Obstruction Pass is a rock-bottom corridor in DFO subarea 7 near Bellingham, Washington, with mid-level exposure and depths running 20 to 120 feet. The channel funnels salmon through in summer, with Chinook peaking from June through September and Coho holding from June into October, both taken on downrigger trolling or trolling with flashers, hoochies, and trolling spoons over the moving water. The rocky structure supports strong groundfish action, including Lingcod that peak November through February and again March through June, worked with leadhead jigs and swimbaits along the bottom. Pacific Halibut move through from April to August and respond to drifting herring, squid, or octopus across the deeper stretches of the corridor. Black Rockfish concentrate near the rock from June through August, where metal jigs and swimbaits fished close to structure produce well.
