West Bank is an outer-exposed sand flat off Anacortes, Washington, in DFO subarea 7, with depths running from 30 to 90 feet. The open bottom draws Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through July, alongside Lingcod at their best in February and March, with Pacific Cod, English Sole, and Rock Sole holding over the sand year-round. Anglers work the flat by drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus for halibut, and switch to metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over any structure to reach lingcod. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from June into October, both taken by trolling flashers, spoons, and cut-plug herring across the shallower edges of the flat. Dungeness Crab fill in from July through September, worked with crab pots baited with fish carcasses, clams, or chicken.
