Raccoon Point is a rocky drop-off in Bellingham, Washington, within DFO subarea 7, where the bottom falls through mid-exposure water from 260 to 660 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon in their June through September peak and Coho Salmon from June into October, while Pacific Halibut hold along the deeper reaches from April through August. Downrigger trolling with whole herring, flashers, and hoochies covers the salmon, and drifting herring, squid, or octopus works the halibut over the deeper bottom. Lingcod concentrate here with two windows, November through February and March through June, and respond to jigging with metal jigs or leadhead jigs and swimbaits along the rock. Black Rockfish fill in the summer months from June through August, taken on metal jigs and swimbaits worked over the same structure.
