The south side of Vendovi Island sits in DFO subarea 7 near Bellingham, Washington, a mixed-bottom bay with moderate exposure and depths running from 10 to 80 feet. Chinook Salmon peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from June through October, drawing downrigger trolling with whole herring, flashers, hoochies, and trolling spoons across the water column. The mixed bottom and structure hold Lingcod, which peak November through February and again March through June, best worked with leadhead jigs and swimbaits over the deeper edges. Rockfish species stack up through the spring and summer, with the aggregate fishery peaking March through September and Black Rockfish concentrated June through August, both responding to metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits. Kelp Greenling fill out the mixed-bottom fishery from June into December, taken on leadhead jigs with soft plastics or shrimp fished close to the bottom.
