Steamboat Flats Light is a rocky pinnacle in Marine Area 8-2 off Everett, Washington, rising through mid-exposure water at depths of 15 to 40 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from July through October, with Pacific Halibut concentrated March through July and Lingcod strongest February through April. Trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, flashers, and spoons works the salmon over the pinnacle, while mooching cut-plug herring covers the same fish through the tide. For Lingcod and Black Rockfish holding tight to the rock, jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits reaches the bottom structure, and drifting herring or squid targets Halibut across the same depth band. Black Rockfish stay active from March into August over this rock, keeping the pinnacle productive well beyond the salmon runs.
