STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Colville Island sits along Boundary Pass near Friday Harbor, Washington, a rocky outer drop-off exposed to the open channel where the bottom falls away from 40 to 180 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from December through February and again from May through August, alongside aggregate Rockfish that fish best from March through September. Jigging drives most of the action here: metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs work the rock edges and depth transitions for lingcod, while metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits cover rockfish over the same ledges. Anglers targeting lingcod also drift live greenling, herring, or sanddabs across the drop, or mooch whole and cut plug herring through the water column. The exposed setting and strong tidal flow concentrate fish along the rock faces, so working the deeper edges near the base of the drop-off tends to produce.
