Iceberg Point marks an exposed rocky corridor off the southern tip of Lopez Island, where currents sweep across structure in depths ranging from 20 to 120 feet. Lingcod hold here through the winter and again from late spring into summer, peaking December through February and May through August, while cabezon feed heavily November through February and aggregate rockfish stay active March through September. Jigging drives the fishing across all three species, with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked close to the rock. Anglers targeting lingcod also drift live bait such as greenling or herring, and cabezon come to bottom fishing with squid, herring, or shrimp. The outer exposure and rock bottom keep fish tight to the structure, so working the deeper edges of the corridor tends to produce over open water.
