Rock Point is a mid-exposure sand flat off Oak Harbor, Washington, in Marine Area 7, where the bottom runs from 15 to 40 feet. The flat produces Chinook and Coho Salmon through the summer, with both species peaking from June to September, while Lingcod come on in February and March and Pacific Halibut hold from March into June. Anglers work the salmon by trolling flashers, trolling spoons, hoochies, or cut plug herring across the flat, switching to mooching whole or cut plug herring when fish sit deeper. Lingcod respond to metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits over the sand, and halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits. Dungeness Crab fill out the season from June to August and take crab pots baited with fish carcasses, chicken, or clams set across the shallower edges of the depth range.
