East Point sits off the eastern tip of Saturna Island in DFO subarea 18-5, where currents sweep past rocky structure and drop into depths of 30 to 200 feet. Lingcod hold along this reef through the winter and again in summer, with peak fishing from December to February and May to August. Rockfish concentrate over the same broken bottom, running strongest from March through September. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits works the deeper edges for both species, while mooching whole herring or cut plug herring covers the shallower structure. Live bait drifting with greenling or herring adds another option for lingcod when they sit tight to the rocks.
