About Point George Hump
Point George Hump is an exposed rocky pinnacle in Marine Area 7 off Oak Harbor, Washington, rising through depths of 75 to 205 feet in outer, open water. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through June, alongside Lingcod that peak February and March, plus resident Rougheye Rockfish, Sablefish, and Pacific Cod. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through from June into September. Anglers work halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits over the pinnacle, backing that up with bait such as herring, octopus, or squid when the drift slows. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs and bucktail jigs tight to the rock, while salmon are typically taken by trolling flashers, spoons, hoochies, and cut plug herring across the deeper edges.
