About Post Office Bay Hump

Post Office Bay Hump is a rocky pinnacle in Marine Area 7 off Oak Harbor, Washington, rising through mid-exposure water at depths of 75 to 205 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through June, alongside Lingcod that concentrate in February and March, plus Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Splitnose Rockfish across the deeper rock. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through in summer, with both peaking from June through September. Anglers work the pinnacle for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits, dropping to the rock along the deeper end of the range. Lingcod come on jigs and swimbaits fished tight to the structure, while salmon are taken trolling flashers, spoons, hoochies, and cut plug herring through the passing schools.
