Dolphin Point is a rocky drop-off in Gig Harbor, Washington, within DFO subarea 11, where the bottom falls away through a mid-exposure water column ranging from 260 to 655 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon peaking June through September and Coho Salmon peaking July through October, both of which respond well to trolling flashers with hoochies, trolling spoons, or cut-plug herring along the edge. Pacific Halibut move onto the deeper reaches from March through July and are worked with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or herring. Lingcod concentrate on the rock from February through April and take metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while Black Rockfish hold over the same structure year-round. The steep contour and rock bottom keep bait and fish stacked along the break, making the depth transition the focus for most of the season.
