Peter Point is an outer-exposed drop-off in Gig Harbor, Washington, within DFO subarea 11, where mixed bottom falls away through depths of 170 to 430 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from July through October, while Pacific Halibut run strongest March through July and Lingcod concentrate February through April. Trolling flashers with hoochies, cut-plug herring, or trolling spoons works the water column for both salmon species along the edge of the drop, and mooching whole herring covers the same ground on a slower presentation. For Halibut, drift jigging leadhead jigs or metal jigs over the mixed bottom suits the deeper end of the range, and jigging metal jigs or swimbaits targets Lingcod holding tight to the structure. Black Rockfish are present year-round and respond to jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with plastic swimbaits across the same broken terrain.
