Reid Rock is a mid-exposure sand flat off Oak Harbor, Washington, in Marine Area 7, sitting in 15 to 40 feet of water. Chinook and Coho Salmon both peak from June through September, while Pacific Halibut runs strongest March through June and Lingcod concentrates in February and March. The shallow flat suits trolling for salmon with flashers, trolling spoons, hoochies, or cut plug herring, and mooching whole or cut plug herring holds bait in the strike zone through current changes. Halibut over the sand respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits, with herring, squid, or octopus on bait rigs when the drift slows. Lingcod hold on the harder structure edges and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs worked close to the bottom.
