Dungeness Bank is a mid-exposure sand flat off Port Angeles, Washington, where the bottom runs from about 30 to 90 feet. The bank holds lingcod, which peak from January through April, alongside Pacific halibut that come on strongest from March into August and rockfish available across the calendar. Anglers work the sand and its edges with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod, backing that up with live greenling, herring, or squid on the bait. Halibut respond to drift fishing across the flat with herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid, while the shallower end of the depth range keeps jigging and mooching productive for rockfish. Working the tide movement over the open sand keeps baits tracking near the bottom where these fish hold.
