Travis Spit is a mid-exposure sand flat off Oak Harbor, Washington, in Marine Area 6, with water depths running 10 to 30 feet. The flat produces Chinook and Coho Salmon through the summer, both peaking June through September, followed by Chum Salmon from September into November as the runs shift toward fall. Trolling flashers, hoochies, trolling spoons, or cut plug herring covers the salmon across this depth range, with mooching whole or cut plug herring and jigging metal jigs as alternatives when fish hold tight to the bottom. Lingcod move through in late winter with a February–March peak, and Pacific Halibut fish best from March into June, both taken on metal or leadhead jigs worked along the sand. Dungeness Crab fill in the summer months, peaking June through August, with crab pots baited on fish carcasses or clams set across the flat.
