This rocky pinnacle rises from the outer, exposed waters off Port Angeles, Washington, where the bottom climbs steeply through depths of 120 to 240 feet. Lingcod hold tight to the rock structure and peak from January through April, taking metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked over the pinnacle, or live greenling, herring, and squid fished on the bottom. Pacific halibut move across the surrounding depths from March through August, caught by drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid, with leadhead and metal jigs as a supporting approach. The pinnacle also holds quillback, canary, and copper rockfish alongside the resident lingcod. Chinook salmon run June through August and coho from June into September, both taken by trolling whole herring, spoons, flashers, and hootchies, or by mooching cut-plug and whole herring through the water column.
