McCurdy Point Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from inner protected waters off Port Townsend, holding depths from 145 to 250 feet within DFO subarea 6. The structure draws Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through July, and Lingcod, which peak from March through May, alongside a resident mix of Darkblotched Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, Silvergray Rockfish, and Sablefish. Chinook Salmon move through during their June to August peak. Anglers work the halibut with drift jigging using metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or herring, and target lingcod by jigging metal jigs and swimbaits over the rock. For Chinook, mooching cut-plug or whole herring near the pinnacle matches the summer window.
