Grays Canyon is an outer-exposed drop-off off Westport, Washington, where the seafloor falls away from roughly 500 to 2,500 feet along a deepwater canyon edge. This structure holds Sablefish and Canary Rockfish along the depths, while Pacific Halibut move through from March to July and Lingcod concentrate along the harder edges from February to April. Albacore Tuna push into the warmer surface water offshore from July to October, taken by trolling cedar plugs, feather jigs, and skirted trolling lures across the open canyon. Halibut respond to drift fishing with herring, squid, and octopus worked near the bottom, and the same drifts convert to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits when fish sit tight to structure. For Lingcod, jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs along the drop-off produces well through the late-winter and early-spring peak.
