Edward King Island's Scotch Bay is an inner, protected bay near Bamfield, British Columbia, set over mixed bottom in water running 10 to 60 feet deep. The bay holds Chinook Salmon through their May to August peak and Coho Salmon from May into September. Trolling anchovy, herring, flashers, and hootchies works the shallower structure for Chinook, while mooching whole or cut-plug herring covers the same range at a slower pace. Coho respond to trolled hootchies, spoons, cut-plug herring, and flashers across the protected water, with bucktailing an option when fish hold near the surface. The sheltered exposure and moderate depths keep both species within reach of jigging metal jigs over the mixed bottom.
