Diana Island / Rainy Bay sits along the outer exposed coast near Bamfield, British Columbia, where a rocky, kelp-covered reef drops through depths of 15 to 60 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from July through September, along with Rockfish that concentrate over the reef from May through September. Chinook Salmon move through the surrounding water from May into August. Anglers work the rock and kelp with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits for lingcod and rockfish, while dropping to live greenling or herring when fish hold tight to the bottom. Chinook come to trolled anchovy, herring, and flashers or to cut-plug herring on the mooch through the same outer-coast passages.
