Wizard Rock is an exposed pinnacle in Barkley Sound off Bamfield, British Columbia, where rock structure rises through depths of 40 to 120 feet along the outer coast. Lingcod hold on the rock through their peaks in February to April and again from July to September, worked with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or with live greenling and herring dropped tight to the pinnacle. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, flashers, and hootchies, while Coho Salmon run May to September and take trolled spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring. Rockfish stack over the same rock structure from May to September, caught by jigging metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits or by bottom fishing with cut herring and squid. The exposed setting and steep rock relief concentrate fish across the full depth range, making it a spot where technique shifts with the target and the season.
