Swiftsure Bank is an outer-exposed sand flat off Bamfield, British Columbia, where the bottom runs from 120 to 240 feet. The bank holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Chinook Salmon from May through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with Albacore Tuna moving through offshore. Halibut hold on the sand across this depth range and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs, while bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon heads, or octopus covers the same ground. Chinook fishing centers on trolling anchovy and herring behind flashers, with mooching cut-plug herring as an alternative through the flat's exposed water. Coho hit trolled hootchies, spoons, and flashers, and bucktailing works when fish sit near the surface.
