Hump 2.0 km SW of Wilby Shoals is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Campbell River, rising through depths of 40 to 180 feet in open, current-swept water. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak in May and June and again from August through September, alongside Pacific Halibut that stay active from April through September across the deeper edges. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, with Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Sablefish rounding out the resident bottom species. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, leadhead jigs and swimbaits for Lingcod, dropping drift jigs or bait such as whole herring and octopus over the deeper contours for Halibut. Trolling herring, anchovy, spoons and hootchies over and around the pinnacle takes both Chinook and Coho as the salmon runs push past.
