Wilby Shoals is an outer, exposed rocky pinnacle off Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through 25 to 40 feet of water where current sweeps across broken structure. The rock holds a steady population of Lingcod, which peak May through June and again from August into September, alongside Pacific Halibut that stay active April through September. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, leadhead jigs and swimbaits, or bucktail jigs over the high points, while Halibut drift jigging with leadheads, swimbaits and metal jigs covers the sand and rubble edges. Chinook Salmon move through in numbers from June through August and Coho from May into September, both taken by trolling herring, anchovy, spoons and hootchies along the exposed faces. The shoal also supports Canary, Copper, Quillback and China Rockfish, plus Pacific Cod, over the same rock and depth band.
