About Francisco Point Hump

Francisco Point Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-1 off Campbell River, rising through a depth range of 35 to 270 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak in May and June and again from August through September, alongside resident Pacific Ocean Perch, China Rockfish, and Copper Rockfish that relate to the rocky bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho Salmon from May to September, making the pinnacle a dual-purpose spot for bottom and salmon anglers. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs works the deeper rock for Lingcod, while bait fishing with whole herring, live greenling, or octopus covers the same structure. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies over the hump takes Chinook and Coho, with jigging and mooching available as supporting approaches when fish stack near the pinnacle.
