East Wilby Shoals Hump is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-1 off Campbell River, rising from an outer, exposed stretch of water where depths range from 35 to 270 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through June and again from August into September, alongside Canary Rockfish, Darkblotched Rockfish, and Pacific Cod that relate to the same rocky bottom. Chinook Salmon move through the area from June to August, adding a strong summer window over the hump. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs worked close to the rock, with whole herring, live greenling, or octopus fished on the bottom as supporting options. Chinook are targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the structure, with mooching cut-plug or whole herring a productive alternative on the tide.
