Outer Exposed

Ajax Bank is an outer-exposed flat off Comox, British Columbia, where mixed bottom holds across depths of 120 to 180 feet. The bank draws Pacific Halibut through its March-to-July peak and Lingcod across two windows, January through March and again May through September, alongside resident Bank Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and Silvergray Rockfish. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August, with Coho Salmon present May through September. Anglers work the flat by drift jigging leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs for halibut, or drop bottom bait rigs with whole herring, salmon bellies, or octopus over the mixed substrate. Lingcod respond to metal jigs and swimbaits along the bottom, while trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies takes salmon over the same water.
