About Favada Point

Favada Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Comox, British Columbia, in DFO subarea 14-12, where the bottom falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon across a long May to September window, with trolling the primary approach using anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, and hootchies. Lingcod work the rocky depths with strong showings from January to March and again May through September, and jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs targets them directly along the drop. Black Rockfish stack up over the same rock in summer, peaking June to August, and respond to jigging with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits. Pacific Cod and Giant Pacific Octopus also occupy the deeper reaches of this steep, exposed edge.
