About Crescent Bay Hump

Crescent Bay Hump is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 14-13 off Comox, British Columbia, rising through a mid-exposure water column that runs from 60 to 235 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from January through March and again from May through September, alongside Pacific Cod, Canary Rockfish, and Copper Rockfish drawn to the rock bottom. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs worked close to the pinnacle, with bait fishing using whole herring, live greenling, or squid as a supporting approach over the deeper edges. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the water above the hump. The vertical relief here concentrates fish along the pinnacle's flanks, so working the depth breaks matters more than covering flat ground.
