Mitlenatch Island sits off Comox in British Columbia, a rocky drop-off with mid-range exposure where depths fall from 330 to 1,310 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon peaking June through August and Coho Salmon running May through September, both worked by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the contour. Lingcod hold on the rock through the winter months and again from May into September, targeted by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the drop. Pacific Halibut move through from March to July and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits across the deeper flats below the break. Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Copper Rockfish round out the bottom fishery over the same rocky terrain.
