Sentry Shoal is an exposed rock pinnacle off Comox, British Columbia, rising from depths that range from 35 to 255 feet on the outer, open water. The structure holds Pacific Halibut through their March to July peak and Lingcod across two windows, January to March and May to September, alongside a mix of rockfish including darkblotched, yellowmouth, and rosethorn. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, while Pacific Cod round out the bottom fishery. Anglers work the deeper rock and gravel with drift jigging for halibut, using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs, and switch to bottom bait fishing with whole herring, octopus, or squid when the bite slows. Over and around the pinnacle, jigging with metal jigs or swimbaits takes lingcod, and trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies covers water for salmon staging near the structure.
