About Sentry Shoal Hump

Sentry Shoal Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Comox in DFO subarea 14-13, holding structure across depths of 150 to 340 feet. Lingcod are the mainstay here, peaking from January through March and again from May through September, and they respond well to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the rock, with whole herring, live greenling, or squid working the same ground. The pinnacle also draws Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod that relate tightly to the hard bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and take trolled anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies, while Coho Salmon run May through September and hold on trolled spoons, hootchies, and bait teasers with anchovy. Fish the edges and flanks of the pinnacle where current concentrates bait against the structure.
